Athletics

The primary goal of the high school athletic program is to provide student-athletes with the highest quality athletic and social experiences by promoting an environment of academic excellence, competitiveness, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and diversity. 

At Cheltenham, participation in our athletic program is considered a privilege extended by the high school, through the Board of School Directors, to students who choose to participate. The Department of Athletics is committed to providing a competitive platform for all student-athletes. Administrators, coaches and staff are dedicated to supporting each student-athlete's journey towards academic and athletic success.

PHYSICALS

Sports physicals may not be authorized earlier than June 1 and shall be effective, regardless of when performed during a school year, until the latter of the next May 31 or the conclusion of the spring sports season. Students MUST submit their PIAA physical forms before they participate in any sports programs. On the day the physical is completed, ask the physician to stamp and date Section 6 of the PIAA physical form. We will only accept the completed PIAA physical form for participation in afterschool athletic programs. All students interested in participating in sports must have a completed and cleared PIAA physical uploaded to the Big Teams website that is dated after June 1 of the school year they plan to play, and is signed and stamped by a licensed physician.

PIAA physicals are due by August 17 in order to participate in fall sports. PIAA physicals must be submitted to Arbiter for the 2026-2027 school year. Click the link above to be taken to the Cheltenham landing page, where, you can register and go through the process of uploading the forms.
